The Conference speakers stated a need to start identifying the problem of malnutrition and the consequence of 3 million children dying every year.

The conference highlighted that the current European Union (EU) policy and EU documents have not yet addressed these key important deficiencies in our western approach. It was noted that this will require strong emphasis on more funding for effective research and funding for the development of tools to quickly and cost efficiently identify deficiencies in malnourished children, so that deficiencies can be addressed with specific micronutrients.
